Advancement Services Specialist (Onsite/Birmingham)

ADVANCEMENT SERVICES SPECIALIST

How You Will Impact the Big Picture:

As the Advancement Services Specialist, you will perform a variety of routine, standardized clerical or operational support duties across Mission Advancement Services. The specific duties assigned each day will vary based on the volume and workflow needs within the department.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

  • Perform print center work: prepare and process Mission Advancement printing, including, but not limited to, acknowledgements, tax statements, welcome kits, packing slips and more.
  • Operate computer, printer, inserter, sealer, scanner and other related standard office and processing equipment; verify documents, print & mail center work for accuracy and completeness, performing research, documenting printed package counts.
  • Sort, open, review and prepare incoming mailed donor correspondence and donations for imaging or separate processing as required.
  • Scan check and other donation correspondence utilizing high-speed imaging equipment.
  • Regularly clean printing, mailing and imaging equipment and clear jams as necessary.
  • Physically sort, count and prepare spoiled postage envelopes for USPS credit.
  • Process donation using the Mavro Imaging system and the EWTN fundraising CRM.
  • Review, quality check, match, update, and import various gift batches into CRM database.
  • Update donor records with changes requested via returned mail, phone calls, emails and letters following established workflow guidelines and business rules.
  • Research donor information upon request within the CRM database.
  • Maintain confidentiality & security of donor information, EWTN fundraising performance & methods.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have Experience with databases or knowledge of database and imaging software applications.
  • You have strong data entry skills and computer software experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • You possess excellent verbal & written communication skills; exemplify well developed organizational skills & attention to detail.
  • You are adaptable, able to adjust to changing circumstances; willing to learn new technological skills.
  • You hold a High school diploma or GED.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • You have prior experience working in a print shop, mailroom, or imaging center including working with printers, scanners and mail distributions systems

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER (Pro-Life Weekly)

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Associate Producer for Pro-Life Weekly, you will work with the Pro-Life Weekly editorial team to produce content with a strict deadline for a daily newscast. This role will also collaborate with and support the production of all shows across EWTN News, as needed.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Contribute to a lively, fast-paced newscast that includes writing news packages, voiceovers, teases, and discussion segments; assists in writing scripts for newscasts and TV news brief.
  • Pitch story and guest ideas to team; book guests and coordinate all necessary details.
  • Develop and nurture a productive network within the Pro-Life and Catholic community.
  • Work with editors to facilitate production.
  • Watch and log video and sound for various events.
  • Communicate with production crew about executing the newscast.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in TV broadcast news, Newspaper, or Marketing environments.

As the Booker/Planning Editor, you will research and schedule guests for discussion segments for EWTN News Nightly and finalize all necessary details between guests and the control room. The Booker/Planning Editor will also manage the newsroom’s editorial calendar and daily agenda.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Book qualified guests, conduct preliminary interviews, and conduct technical tests.

  • Utilize special closed captioning equipment and captioning system software to format text and accurately place captions in synchronization with speech, music, and sound effects.
  • Process captions and embed text onto the program disk for television airing, as well as export to various formats for DVD and video streaming.
  • Review broadcast dates to ensure timely captioning, allowing other departments to complete their work before airtime and DVD distribution.
  • Notify the supervisor of any concerns related to tape, graphics, episodes, or transcripts.

  • You have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a comparable work environment.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Digital Media Manager, you will work with various agency teams to create compelling content for digital platforms (including but not limited to websites, apps, and social media), manage the Editors Service, as well as social media accounts executing the News digital strategy. This role will also serve as backup for the Director of Digital Strategy & Social Media when needed. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Execute strategies that build brand awareness and increase audience acquisition/web traffic; create new/original multimedia content for websites and social media posts.
  • Collaborate with editors to obtain photos and video content to accompany social media and website posts; review and copy edit content on a daily basis.
  • Upload content and execute search engine and social media optimization for content on digital platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and others.
  • Create reports and analyze data to measure the progress and effectiveness of messaging and social media efforts in addition to serving as archivist across the EWTN News teams. You will also serve as a Staff Writer when needed.
  • Educate staff on copyright and best practices for both photos and video.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience managing social media content and strategies in a professional environment, preferably within the field of journalism.
  • You have at least 1 – 2 years of prior experience in a management role, preferably in a newsroom environment.
  • You are a practicing Catholic in good standing, possessing a proficient knowledge of the teachings of the Catholic Church with the ability to apply that knowledge to News coverage.

Donor Correspondence Specialist (Onsite/Birmingham)

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Donor Correspondence Specialist, you will deliver excellent donor care through email or other written correspondence by appropriately answering questions, resolving issues, updating automatic donation schedules and taking written prayer requests for our benefactors. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Monitor, sort and triage the Mission Advancement email inbox and designated Mavro Connect workflows in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Ensure donors are aware of various donation methods to EWTN.
  • Appropriately respond to donors’ written inquiries.
  • Evaluate and resolve donor and donation issues, including but not limited to, making donations, making address changes, identifying duplicate accounts, removing donors from mailing lists and coding deceased benefactor accounts.
  • Appropriately decide when to escalate complex donor matters to management for resolution.
  • Participate in ongoing formation and education around excellence in donor care and philanthropy best practices.
  • Safeguard benefactor information and strictly maintain donor privacy.
  • Respectfully and appropriately route written prayer requests.
  • Route incoming correspondence to appropriate EWTN departments as needed.
  • Occasionally be available during peak donor call traffic to assist in answering calls

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of two years of customer service experience.

As the Donor Experience Specialist, you’ll support EWTN’s goal to provide our donors with a meaningful faith and giving journey. As the Donor Experience Specialist, you’ll make outbound calls to express gratitude on behalf of the organization and warmly thank our donors for their contributions, and from the guidance of a script, share EWTN resources that may be helpful in enhancing their spiritual and giving journey. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Make routine outbound calls to thank and welcome donors.
  • Respond to donor inquiries by referring them to online resources or transfer them to the appropriate source.
  • At the request of the donor, update contact information to their record.
  • Provide regular feedback on the new donor workflow to the Donor Experience Manager.
  • Working with the Donor Experience Manager, adjust telephone scripts for outbound calls as needed.

As the On-Air Promotions Producer/Editor, you’ll play a pivotal role on our Creative Services team by concepting, creating, and editing interstitials for EWTN. Your on-air promotions (such as image spots, short fillers, program promos) will help communicate exciting new programming initiatives to our viewers and further build the brand image of the Network.

  • Oversee all aspects of the creation of spots including concepting, storyboard design, copywriting, field production, and crew supervision.

  • Execute all post-production video editing including color correction, sound editing and more.

As the Operations Manager, you will assist in the assessment and improvement of operational systems and processes for the National Catholic Register (NCR), Catholic News Agency (CNA) and ACI Prensa and all their platforms: newspaper, website, radio, and other digital assets. HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Political Correspondent, you will be responsible for producing news articles and other reporting as assigned by editors, and for representing Catholic News Agency at various functions and events. You will collaborate with and support other EWTN apostolates through television and radio appearances, as necessary.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Produce two news articles per day on current events of national interest or local relevancy, on subjects assigned or approved by editors (i.e., USCCB, Catholic Charities, pro-life, religious freedom, immigration and poverty legislation, HHS mandate, foreign policy, bioethics, etc.).
  • Cover press briefings, legislative hearings, civic and community functions, and Catholic liturgical or cultural events. Take photographs and organize images for export as needed.
  • Conduct research, consult experts for background, develop a network of sources and contacts, and conduct interviews as appropriate.
  • Support and engage in CNA social media presence by coordinating with the EWTN Digital team.
  • Support other EWTN News platforms, through collaborative reporting, including occasional television and radio appearances.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You hold a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in a journalism or communications with an emphasis on newswriting; prior Newsroom experience preferred.
  • You are a practicing Catholic in good standing, possessing demonstrated knowledge of the faith and EWTN’s mission.
  • You are familiar with contemporary social, political, and religious issues, and basic liberal arts formation in theology, philosophy, and history.
  • You have the capacity for basic analysis of events in relationship to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

As the Printing and Mailing Specialist you’ll be responsible for a variety of administrative and technical print services for outbound mail that supports donor stewardship efforts.  The position is key in helping EWTN meet quality, efficiency and donor experience goals, ensuring all projects (welcome letters, acknowledgements, day-of-prayer, tax receipts, and special mailings) are produced according to printing, production and shipping specs and meet delivery deadlines. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

General/Administrative:

  • Stay up to date on printing requirements and postal regulations.

  • Develop procedures to improve print, production and mailing efficiencies.

As the Producer, you will work with the News Nightly editorial team to produce content and fulfill other responsibilities with a strict deadline to produce a quality daily newscast. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Produce discussion segments on national/international news from a Catholic perspective, including writing/editing news scripts under tight deadlines
  • Communicate with the Sr. Producer and Host about guests, including extensive research and potential discussion questions.
  • Pitch original content stories that would make good discussion or news segments based on current affairs.
  • Choose videos, sound bites, and still photos to be included in the broadcast.
  • Collaborate with pre- and post-production team members in order to produce editorially sound and visually appealing broadcasts that meet EWTN and Industry standards.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have 3-5 years prior experience working in TV broadcast production/programming, preferably in a local or national newsroom environment.

As the Production Technician, you’ll be responsible for the technical setup and operation of all audio related production functions in the studio or in the field, including interviews, music, voice-overs, telephone interfaces, roll-ins, and more. You’ll play a vital role on the EWTN Production Crew, sometimes assisting as Technical Director, Camera Operator, Teleprompter Operator, Grip/Lighting Assistant, and more!

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Coordinate with the Director, Producer and Management on audio requirements and setup required for both studio and remote productions.
  • Set up and position microphones for talent, music and/or ambient sound as the production requires.
  • Select and operate all audio related equipment.
  • Maintain proper source levels (microphones, clip players, decks, telephone interface, CD, etc.) and relational perspective as production requires.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Radio Producer, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of live and recorded programs, ensuring content meets EWTN broadcast standards. You’ll develop program ideas consistent with the mission and collaborate with hosts, facilitators, and other content contributors, as well as perform voice work and facilitate programs. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Produce all aspects of the radio program ensuring that all content meets EWTN broadcast standards.
  • Develop program ideas consistent with the mission of the show.
  • Collaborate with hosts, facilitators, content contributors, partners, and call-screener to consistently produce great Catholic radio in the tradition of Mother Angelica; Christ-centered, engaging and entertaining.
  • Manage all in-show production, ensure recorded messaging and promotional announcements are fresh, timely, and on target.
  • Take the lead in mapping future radio shows; prepare and write materials (as needed).
  • Ensure social media push & other forms of show promotion/engagement are on point and web page is up to date.
  • Keep abreast of current affairs; religious, secular and pop culture.
  • Facilitate shows, perform voice work.
  • Establish and maintain a working list of fill-in hosts and guests, vetted and available for situations requiring tight deadlines.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of 1-3 years’ experience producing major market radio broadcasts or related experience.
  • You have a demonstrated understanding of the Catholic Faith, the Magisterium, and how they relate to the programming goals of the network.
  • You have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • You are able to collaborate well with others in a team environment.
  • You are prompt and thorough with strong attention to detail and ability to follow through.
  • You are able to work calmly and effectively under pressure, react quickly, meet tight deadlines, and provide solutions.
  • You possess excellent writing skills, with the ability to generate prep materials and original ideas, and think creatively about how to communicate to audiences.
  • You can identify, troubleshoot, and communicate technical & computer issues.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related field, or equivalent experience.

Safety & Security Officer (Onsite/Birmingham)

SAFETY & SECURITY OFFICER 

Full-time, onsite in Birmingham (Irondale), AL; Not remote-eligible. 

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Safety & Security Officer, you’ll provide campus security and surveillance to ensure the welfare of all employees, guests and visitors.  Your patrol presence on the network grounds will provide a continuous source of assistance and safety, and you’ll also serve as the first point of contact for providing information to our visitors and guests. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Perform campus surveillance on foot and by vehicle, ensuring security and safety.
  • Screen all vehicles at the Network entrances, maintaining a sense of vigilance for undesirable, dangerous, or counterproductive activities or individuals.
  • Monitor cameras, fire protection systems and other devices from the control room.
  • Provide accurate and timely written or verbal information/instruction to all vendors, visitors, pilgrims, or anyone conducting business with the Network.
  • Initiate emergency 911 calls as appropriate and direct emergency vehicles to proper locations.
  • Administer First Aid, CPR, and basic emergency assistance in the event of an emergency.
  • Transport guests to and from the Birmingham airport.
  • Direct traffic for special functions and some live show events.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You possess a High School diploma or GED and have experience working in a Security/Law enforcement, military, EMS or related field.
  • You hold a valid Alabama State Driver’s License.
  • You have a valid State of Alabama pistol permit or be able to obtain one upon hire.
  • You are First Aid and CPR certified, or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire date.
  • You have a basic knowledge of OSHA & NFPA codes and standards.
  • You must be able to work in 12-hour shift increments, work in one place for long periods of time, including all weather conditions, available to work overtime if necessary, and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • You are computer proficient and have strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Your dominant soft skills include: ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality around sensitive security issues, attentive to the needs of others, courteous but also direct, and the ability to work in a command-type environment and follow instructions.

Studio Technician (Onsite/Washington, D.C.)

STUDIO TECHNICIAN

Full-time, onsite in Washington, D.C. Not remote-eligible. 

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As the Studio Technician, you will be responsible for the technical setup and operation of all production functions in the studio or in the field. You will work in other production crew positions as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • You will coordinate with the Director, Audio Technician and the Studio Operations Manager on studio setup required for productions.
  • You will assist in studio set changes, wiring guests for audio, and operating lighting board.
  • You will set up on-location cameras, Skype and satellite interviews.
  • You will back up the Digital Asset Manager and assist with capturing live feeds and downloading footage for broadcasts.
  • You will work closely with the Engineering Manager to maintain and upgrade all aspects of the studio and broadcast facilities.
  • You will assist with field productions.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in TV broadcast/cable production or related field.
  • You are proficient with robotic camera systems and are experienced with professional control room equipment, (switchers, tape operation, graphics, and teleprompter software).
  • Experience or knowledge of the following are highly preferred; Avid infrastructure, technical directing, electrical engineering.
  • You possess excellent organizational & communication skills with strong attention to detail and follow through.
  • You are able to work a flexible schedule when necessary.
  • You must possess a working knowledge of the Catholic Faith and alignment with EWTN’s mission.
  • You hold an Associate’s degree in Electronics, Communications, or TV Production.

Viewer Services Representative (US Remote Eligible)

VIEWER SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE 

Full-time, onsite preferred in Birmingham (Irondale), AL, but US Remote-Eligible. 

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:

As a Viewer Services Representative, you'll play an important role in representing EWTN to further the message and mission of our foundress, Mother Angelica, to our EWTN Family. The Viewer Services Representative provides an attentive, caring and positive experience to our audience through phone calls, e-mail, mail, and prayer offerings.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Be the face of EWTN by answering audience questions via various forms of communication, including telephone, internet and written correspondence.
  • Research and respond to questions related to Religious Catalogue orders, Marketing, Production, Programming, Radio, Theology and other areas of the Network as appropriate.
  • Take prayer requests, troubleshoot orders, and process donation payments.
  • Provide excellent customer service to the EWTN viewers!

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a passion for customer service, and at least 2 years of experience working in customer service environment; call center experience strongly preferred. 
  • Your technical skills consist of proficiencies in MS Office, basic data entry, and OMS software experience is preferred but not required. 
  • You possess excellent verbal and communication skills, with the ability to multi-task.
  • You are patient, kind, helpful, and a true team-player passionate about customer service.
  • You are able to work a daily 8-hour shift Monday through Friday between the hours of 7am to 7pm, flexibility preferred. 
  • If working remotely, you are able to provide a quiet, private home office space free of distractions with a minimum internet speed of 25mpbs upload and download, and a hardwired internet connection (Wireless/WIFI connections not acceptable for this role due to the nature of the call center software we utilize.)
  • You are a practicing Catholic with demonstrated knowledge of the Catholic Faith and EWTN's mission.
